Making time to play, learn, and be in community with peers is essential to improving as a creative. It’s also good fun: an honorable pursuit on its own. Huzzah!
At Laetro, we support creatives in and outside of our community. We do this in several ways, including our free Creators Clubs:
- Drawing Club
- Writing Club
- Creative Futures Club
Laetro club events are for creative professionals at all skill levels. Are you itching to write outside of work? Do you want to draw one (or several) of your favorite characters? Are you looking to survive and thrive whatever the future of creative industries has in store?
Do you want to continue to refine your skills, new and old, and tell amazing stories? These clubs are for you. Learn more about each club below.
Drawing Club
Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of Laetro, Dave Zaboski, hosts Drawing Club. Dave is a classically trained artist and former Senior Animator at Disney, Warner Bros., and Sony.
At Drawing Club, focus on basic skills like creating shapes, action lines, and depth with shading. Get the big picture with visual prompts like rabbits, horses, dogs, and action shots of olympic athletes.
Our first Drawing Club of the summer featured Bridgerton characters as prompts. We had a lot of fun with form and style. See illustrator Samby Sayward’s sketch above.
Join Drawing Clubs on Zoom, Mondays from 9:00-10:30 PDT (17:00-18:30 BST).
Writing Club
Join hosts (and literary nerds) Bianca Brown and James Hart for Writing Club. Both copywriters, Bianca and James have worked with brands HP, Andreessen Horowitz, U.S. News & World Report and more.
Brush up on your story writing with flash fiction prompts. Tell true stories with narrative flair with creative nonfiction exercises. Get an academic look + exercise on topics like kennings and hemistichs.
With Sights of Summer, we experimented with picture prompts at Writing Club. Summer work and summer play were on display. Check out this quoted piece by strategist Janna Reddig above.
Join Writing Clubs on Zoom, Wednesdays from 10:00-11:00 PDT (18:00-19:00 BST).
Creative Futures Club
Check out Creative Futures Club, an episodic program designed to help creatives navigate the future of creative work. Hosted by Dave Zaboski, each episode highlights a distinguished guest creative. Watch CFC for illuminating discussions on GenAI, leadership, craft, and more.
In CFC Episode #1, Dave is in conversation with Heather Crank, an award winning visual artist and designer. A deeply curious and flexible creative, Heather chats her nuanced thoughts on and robust experience with generative AI.
Watch Heather's conversation here or on the Laetro YouTube channel. Subscribe to catch all future sessions of Creative Futures Club.
Add our Laetro Creative Events Google calendar to your own, and never miss a beat.
We Rise Together
As creatives, we often find ourselves working in silos. There are benefits to this solitary work. But truthfully, it’s not a sustainable way to be creative.
Learn something, surprise yourself, and have some fun. As Dave Zaboski says, we rise together.
