Did you know that Laetro artist and Founder Dave Zaboski got a D+ in his art class during High School? Art isn't an exact thing. The very concept of it is something so abstract that it could be compared to the concept of feelings or different sensations we have. Remember that when people give you feedback on your art, they're only giving you their own opinions, or technical suggestions and tips, but nobody can assure for a fact that your art is either good or bad besides yourself.
Here's a short story that Dave posted on his personal site that seems to have a struck a cord with people. We're sharing it here because we believe in the healing power of art. Enjoy this heartwarming story and feel free to share your thoughts about what you might find in Gratitude's Garden. Maybe those ideas will show up as this story continues.
On today's Tutorial Tuesday DJ Cleland-Hura ( @djclelandhurafineart ) helps us understand a little bit more about color, as he shows us how he approaches it. It is always important to think of the mood you want to express when it comes to coloring.
Meet Sheeba Maya ( @sheeba_maya ) !
Meet Samby Sayward ( @boundlessbard ) !
Have you ever seen a piece of artwork that instantly took you through a journey to some other time? This is exactly what we feel when we look at this illustration made by Laetro artist David Edward Byrd ( @byrdeye )! He has done posters in the past for some of the biggest musicians out there such as Jimi Hendrix, Prince, and even the famous music festival Woodstock!
Before Laetro got its start, our founders weren't sure if this idea would work out since nothing like it had existed before. So Dave spoke with some of his old Disney friends like John Ramirez and Mike Cedeno, and artists from his community like Casey Robin. Artists that had versatility and the ability to execute art in several styles. It was wonderful to have these amazing veteran artists help us craft what would become Laetro, and what it could be for the world - bringing together the best artists from the top studios with people who need the best art for their projects.
On this Tutorial Tuesday we brought you something a little bit different. Laetro artist Travis Blaise ( @sketchtoanimate ) brings us a demo showing his approach on how to draw and animate traditionally a bat character. It is amazing to see how some separate drawings can come to life by simply flipping the pages!
Meet Rita Lux ( @ritalux  ) !
Meet our founders!
On the last segment of our 3 part tutorial, Dave Zaboski ( @davezart ) shows us his approach on color when doing a digital painting, and how integrates it with line, and mostly value. What else would you like to see on our next Tutorial Tuesday?
Meet Susan Blanchard ( @soobee362  ) !
